Based on the latest round of Premier League matches, Richard Jolly selects his team of the week.

Goalkeeper: Lee Grant (Stoke City)

Making just his second Premier League appearance, the borrowed Grant made two superb saves as Stoke took a surprise point at Old Trafford.

Right-back: Joel Ward (Crystal Palace)

Defended well and provided excellent crosses, one for Christian Benteke’s goal, in Friday night’s hard-earned draw at Everton.

Centre-back: Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur)

Arguably the best central defender in the division. The Belgian showed why with a masterclass to keep Sergio Aguero quiet.

Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk (Southampton)

Subdued champions Leicester City in a stalemate as Southampton kept a sixth straight clean sheet in all competitions.

Left-back: James Milner (Liverpool)

The most prolific penalty taker in the league scored another and worked relentlessly to help his team come from behind at Swansea City.

Right midfield: Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Won a vital late header in the Burnley box as Arsenal turned one point into three in injury time at Turf Moor.

Centre midfield: N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)

Missed a golden chance but it was the only blight on an all-action display as he helped earn Chelsea a 2-0 win at Hull City.

Centre midfield: Dele Alli (Tottenham)

Scored a goal, won a penalty and showed the running power that helped Tottenham press Manchester City to distraction.

Left midfield: Dimitri Payet (West Ham United)

Scored the goal of the weekend courtesy of a stunning solo run that took him past five Middlesbrough players.

Striker: Roberto Firmino (Liverpool)

The Brazilian’s wonderfully precise header brought Liverpool level at Swansea. Predictably, he was a nuisance to the Swansea defence.

Striker: Son Heung-Min (Tottenham)

Even when the rejuvenated South Korean did not score, he played a part in both Spurs goals to defeat leaders Manchester City.
