Penalties from Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley kept up Chelsea’s encouraging form in pre-season as the Premier League side came from two down to draw 2-2 with Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. The Germans had gone ahead in the first half thanks to strikes from Alassane Plea and Jonas Hofmann. Frank Lampard made a number of changes at the break, but it was Abraham, who had started the match, who cut the deficit from the spot in the 59th minute. Barkley then converted a second spot-kick with four minutes to go. The result comes after wins over Barcelona, Reading and Red Bull Salzburg. Both Abraham and Barkley had netted in the win over Barcelona and both have had impressive pre-seasons. Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign on August 11 at Manchester United.
