Frank Lampard's Chelsea side face a major test of their Champions League credentials on Wednesday when they take on Valencia in Spain.
The battle to qualify for the knockout stages from Group H has turned into a tense three-way fight with Chelsea, Valencia and Ajax all level on seven points.
In the Premier League on Saturday, Lampard's in-form side saw their six-game winning streak come to end with a 2-1 defeat at Manchester City.
Manager Pep Guardiola admitted City had been been made to work for the three points and described Chelsea as "an incredible team".
On the European front, Chelsea's last match was the memorable 4-4 draw with Ajax at Stamford Bridge.
The London club had fought back from 4-1 down to earn a crucial point against a Dutch side that found themselves down to nine men after Daley Blind and Joel Veltman were sent off.
Cesar Azpilicueta even thought he had snatched a late winner for the Blues but his close-range finish was ruled out by VAR.
Valencia, meanwhile, needed four goals in the last 25 minutes to seal a 4-1 win over French side Lille at the Mestalla Stadium, after finding themselves behind at half-time.
