Sneijder saves Galatasaray to put Turkish side through to Champions League last 16
Wesley Sneijder's 85th-minute strike gave Galatasaray a 1-0 win over Juventus on Wednesday and pushed the Turks past the Italian side into second in Champions League Group B.
A Wesley Sneijder goal five minutes from time saw Turkey’s Galatasaray beat Italian champions Juventus and qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday.
In a match abandoned after just 31 minutes on Tuesday night, Juventus had needed only a draw to finish second in Group B and join Real Madrid in the knock-out stages.
But, on a heavy pitch and in almost Arctic conditions, the Turks held firm in the face of Juventus pressure and take their place in the next round draw after Sneijder’s late opportunist strike.
The sides’ final Group B clash at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium was stopped on Tuesday night with the scoreline 0-0, as increasingly heavy snowfall made playing conditions nearly impossible.
Trump has so far secured 295 Electoral College votes, according to the Associated Press, exceeding the 270 needed to win. Only Nevada and Arizona remain to be called, and both swing states are leaning Republican. Trump swept all five remaining swing states, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, sealing his path to victory and giving him a strong mandate.
Popular Vote Tally
The count is ongoing, but Trump currently leads with nearly 51 per cent of the popular vote to Harris’s 47.6 per cent. Trump has over 72.2 million votes, while Harris trails with approximately 67.4 million.
