The entire Sheffield United squad, including manager Chris Wilder and his backroom team, have agreed to defer 10 per cent of their wages for six months to help the club through the coronavirus pandemic. The gesture comes from one of the worst-paid teams in the Premier League, with chief executive Stephen Bettis also agreeing a wage deferral. The Blades are seventh in the table after gaining promotion last year to the lucrative Premier League, which has been put on hold since early March to help contain the Covid-19 outbreak. United become the fourth Premier League club to agree wage cuts or deferrals, after <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/coronavirus-southampton-the-first-premier-league-club-to-impose-pay-cuts-on-high-earners-1.1003813">Southampton</a>, <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/west-ham-captain-mark-noble-proud-of-players-after-agreeing-salary-deferrals-1.1004442">West Ham United</a> and <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/arsenal-stars-agree-pay-cuts-and-these-are-their-new-weekly-salaries-in-pictures-1.1008687">Arsenal</a>.
