Premier League predictions: Chelsea avenge FA Cup final defeat to Leicester, Liverpool bash Burnley

We pick out the winners and losers from Tuesday and Wednesday's round of English top-lfight matches

TUESDAY - Manchester United v Fulham (9pm kick-off UAE): After two defeats on the spin - against top-four rivals Leicester and Liverpool - United have the perfect chance to get back to winning ways against relegated Fulham. Defeat No 20 this season on the way for Scott Parker's side. Prediction: United 4 Fulham 1. Getty

Southampton v Leeds (9pm): Marcelo Bielsa's side have hit top gear in recent weeks with last week's 4-0 thrashing of Burnley coming hot on the heels of a 3-1 win over Spurs. But Southampton have just won their last two games 3-1, so this is teed-up for another goal-fest on the south coast. Cue goalless bore draw ... Prediction: Reuters 2 Leeds 3. Reuters

Brighton v Manchester City (10pm): City marked their first game since becoming champions by beating Newcastle in a seven-goal thriller last week, where Ferran Torres scored a hat-trick, including one ludicrous backheel volley. Winning their last couple of games convincingly will set City up nicely for Champions League final looming on horizon. Prediction: Brighton 1 City 3.

Chelsea v Leicester (11.15pm): Just two days after losing the FA Cup final in controversial circumstances, fourth-place Chelsea's season could take another hammer blow if they fail to gain some revenge against Leicester. Liverpool are breathing down their neck in fifth and Thomas Tuchel needs to rally his troops for one final league push. Prediction: Chelsea 1 Leicester 0. AP

WEDNESDAY - Everton v Wolves (9pm): Carlo Ancelotti's team would be knocking on the door of the top five if wasn't for their woeful home form. A 1-0 home defeat to season-long bottom-dwellers Sheffield United on Sunday summed up their Goodison Park campaign that has seen them lose nine league games on Merseyside. Wolves' toothless attack should give them some home respite here. Prediction: Everton 2 Wolves 0. EPA

Newcastle v Sheffield United (9pm): There's just no stopping Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock in front of goal at the moment. His strike against Manchester City last time out was the fifth game in a row the loanee from Arsenal has found the net and he will be licking his lips at the prospect of adding to that run against Championship-bound Blades. Prediction: Newcastle 2 Sheffield United 1. PA

Spurs v Aston Villa (9pm): There are two targets left for Harry Kane and Spurs in what has been a disappointing campaign. First, they have an outside chance of edging into the Europa League, although will be relying on others slipping up for that. Second, Kane could console himself with the Premier League Golden Boot - he currently sits joint-top of the chart with Mohamed Salah on 22 goals. Prediction: Spurs 3 Villa 1. Reuters

Crystal Palace v Arsenal (10pm): Three league wins on the spin ... but they've come too late for Arsenal and their hopes of securing Europa League football for next season. They do have two very winnable games to end the current campaign (against Palace and Brighton) so improving on last season's eighth place could provide them with the most meagre of consolations. Prediction: Palace 1 Arsenal 2. AP

Burnley v Liverpool (11.15pm): In what has been a season to forget for the reigning champions, the sight of goalkeeper Alisson Becker wrapping his head round a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross to earn a last-gasp win at Wes Brom was a remarkable moment. It was a mighty boost to momentum and morale that could end up with Liverpool back in the Champions League. Prediction: Burnley 0 Liverpool 2. AFP

West Bromwich Albion v West Ham (11.15pm): After enjoying a goal-laden loan spell with the Hammers, Jesse Lingard has now gone four games without scoring. One more goal, though, and he reaches 10 league strikes in a season for the first time in his career. The Baggies, and their sieve-like defence, provide the perfect opposition for achieving that target. Prediction: West Brom 0 West Ham 3. Reuters

We have now reached the final fence before this season's Premier League gallops through to the finish line.

This penultimate round of matches take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, before the final day of the campaign on Sunday.

On Tuesday, Manchester United host relegated Fulham at Old Trafford, while Southampton and Brighton entertain Leeds and champions Manchester City, respectively, on the south coast. In a repeat of Saturday's FA Cup final, Chelsea take on Leicester City at Stamford Bridge looking to avenge their Wembley defeat.

There are six games taking place 24 hours later. Everton take on Wolves at Goodison Park and Newcastle clash with rock-bottom Sheffield United in the north east. Spurs face Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Crystal Palace battle Arsenal in a London derby, while Burnley's game against Liverpool and Championship-bound West Bromwich Albion against West Ham complete the latest schedule.
