Premier League champions Manchester City have released the first episode of a three-part documentary that details how the club is preparing for the restart of the season amid the coronavirus pandemic. City Restart offers viewers behind-the-scenes access to players and staff and the extensive operation taking place, which includes the installation of testing procedures, the team's return to training, and the first match behind closed doors. The series follows Club staff who are working in these unique circumstances, alongside interviews with manager Pep Guardiola and players. “Like all organisations across the world, Manchester City is facing a huge operational challenge as we prepare for the resumption of the football season," Omar Berrada, Chief Operating Officer at Manchester City, said. "As well as giving fans an extraordinary insight into how the Club is navigating this difficult time, City Restart will showcase the incredible work our staff are undertaking to ensure that we provide the safest possible environment for everyone." The first episode, called Operation Restart, covers the initial first few days of preparing the City Football Academy for the return of the first team squad, including the installation of Covid-19 testing stations and a reconfigured training environment. The second episode, The New Normal, includes interviews with players Rodri, Aymeric Laporte, and Oleksandr Zinchenko. It also captures the return to full contact training and the players arriving at the Etihad Stadium for the first time in months for an inter-squad friendly fixture. The third and final episode, Football Returns, focuses on the build-up to City's first Premier League game of the restart against Arsenal. City Restart is available to watch on Manchester City's digital platforms, including City+, website, app, YouTube, Facebook Watch and Instagram TV. The first episode has been released, with episodes two and three made available on June 16 and 23, respectively.
