Al Wahda fired manager Vuk Rasovic on Saturday the day after their 4-0 thrashing by Al Ain in the Arabian Gulf League at the Al Nahyan stadium. “The management of Al Wahda Football Club decided to dismiss the coach of the first football team Mr Vuk Rasovic, as of today,” Wahda tweeted. Wahda are in eighth spot on 29 points, 15 behind leaders Al Jazira, in the 14-team league. The game against Al Ain was the last straw after draws against lowly Ajman and mid-table Al Wasl in the two previous matches. Henk ten Cate is set to take charge for the remainder of the season after the club’s U21 manager Gregory Dufrennes leads them in their next match against Al Dhafra on Tuesday. Ten Cate, 66, had a similar role at the Al Nahyan stadium as replacement for the Romanian Laurentiu Reghecampf in December 2018. Prior to that, the Dutchman led Al Jazira to the 2017-2018 league title. The former Barcelona and Chelsea assistant manager is expected to arrive this week and take charge of their game against Jazira in the Abu Dhabi Derby on March 21. Rasovic took charge of the Abu Dhabi club on a two-year deal in September having previously spent a similar spell at AGL rivals Al Dhafra.
