Luis Suarez returned to training with his Barcelona teammates on Wednesday following an extended break. Suarez, 32, was part of the Uruguay squad that reached the quarter-finals of the Copa America held in Brazil in June. The former Liverpool striker missed his spot kick in the penalty shoot-out as Peru prevailed 5-4 in Salvador. Along with Lionel Messi, Suarez and the rest of Barcelona's Copa America contingent were given extra leave over the summer and missed the club's pre-season tour to Asia. As the team prepare to face English club Arsenal for the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou on Sunday, Suarez trained for the first time alongside new teammates including Antoine Griezmann, who joined the Spanish champions for €120 million (Dh491m) this summer. Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde said this week that he was <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/ernesto-valverde-excited-at-prospect-of-fielding-antoine-griezmann-alongside-lionel-messi-and-luis-suarez-1.891512">"excited"</a> about the prospect of fielding Girezmann alongside Suarez and Messi for the 2019/20 season. Between them, Messi, Suarez and Griezmann have scored 682 Liga goals, making for a mouthwatering prospect when the trio do eventually take to the field together.
