La Liga football took a big step toward returning this week after clubs were given permission by the Spanish government to resume group training amid the coronavirus pandemic. Spain's football authorities have targeted June 12 as the proposed restart date for the top two professional leagues, and players have been returning to their club training complexes in recent weeks to work on fitness and prepare for when the season resumption gets the go-ahead. While training was previously limited to individual sessions, from Monday squads have been able to train in groups. La Liga champions Barcelona are among the clubs to get down to work as they await for the season to restart. Working hard at Barca's Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper complex, players including captain Lionel Messi, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong, and Spanish forward Ansu Fati were pictured going through group drills and taking part in training programmes.
