After the latest round of Premier League fixtures, some clubs are a step closer to achieving their season's goals while others are drifting further away from theirs. After Wolves' 1-0 win at relegation-threatened Fulham on Friday night, Saturday began with one of the most extraordinary results of the season when 10-man Leeds United stunned Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad. Liverpool then finally won at Anfield in 2021 with a late, come-from-behind 2-1 win over Aston Villa, but their return to the top four proved brief as Chelsea, contesting Saturday's evening kick-off at Crystal Palace, ran out emphatic 4-1 winners. On Sunday, Newcastle United fought back to win 2-1 win at Burnley to give ease their relegation fears, and West Ham leapt back into the top four with a 3-2 win over a Leicester City side in danger of repeating last season's collapse. Manchester United then all but ended Tottenham's own top four hopes with a 2-1 victory in London, before Arsenal thrashed bottom side Sheffield United 3-0. The round concluded on Monday evening, when West Brom claimed back-to-back wins by beating Southampton 3-0 to keep alive their slim survival hopes, before Brighton and Everton played out a dour goalless draw.
