Raphinha, NR - Unleashed Harrison with the pass of the game as Leeds refused to relent, but Hernandez couldn’t provide the finish the move deserved. AFP
ASTON VILLA RATINGS: Emiliano Martínez, 5 – The Argentine will be hoping this one doesn’t live long in the memory. He could only palm Rodrigo’s effort straight to Bamford who gratefully tapped home for 1-0 and the latter went to beat Martinez twice more as Leeds ran riot. Getty
Matty Cash, 4 – He was given a torrid time as wave after wave of Leeds attacks came down the Villa right-hand side, but he showed good character to fight his way back into a fascinating contest with Jack Harrison. Ultimately though, he came out second-best and put Villa on the back foot. AP
Ezri Konsa, 5 - Not the birthday present he will have hoped for. The 23-year-old Konsa has flourished so far this campaign and he started well, producing a heroic block to deny Rodrigo from point-blank range, but ultimately even he couldn’t hold Leeds at bay. PA
Tyrone Mings 4 - Has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and probably would have prevented the opener if Martinez’s outstretched glove hadn’t taken the ball off his boot, but he had no answer to Patrick Bamford after the break. PA
Matt Targett, 5 – Villa’s full-back was kept on his toes from the first whistle as his side failed to match Leeds’ energy levels. He produced some important clearances, but he struggled to cope with the overlapping runs of Stuart Dallas. Reuters
Douglas Luiz, 6 - Undoubtedly one of Villa’s busiest performers, he produced a vital intervention to nick the ball away from Rodrigo and did his best to drag them into the contest. PA
John McGinn 5 – Like most of the Villa danger men, he struggled to have his usual impact as Villa failed to secure a foothold in the game. He produced a few flashes of attacking intent in the closing stages, but it was too little too late. PA
Trezeguet, 5 - He must have thought he’d set up the opener when he turned Watkins’ cross into the path of Jack Grealish, but Luke Ayling’s heroics proved otherwise. The Egyptian struggled to have an impact after the interval and was withdrawn in the 65th minute. AP
Ross Barkley, 5 - There’s no doubting that Barkley’s Villa career has started with a bang, but the England man failed to spark into life against the Whites, and his night was epitomised by a series of disappointing set pieces. Reuters
Jack Grealish, 6 – The Villa skipper will still be trying to work out how Ayling hacked his powerful first-half effort off the line. Not at his busiest, but he came close to a wonder-goal when his incredible solo run and shot was denied only by Meslier with half the Leeds defence on the floor. AP
Ollie Watkins, 6 - The ex-Brentford man did brilliantly to steal possession from Ayling before flashing a teasing ball across the face of goal, but Grealish couldn’t quite convert and that was about as good as it got for the forward. Reuters
SUB: Bertrand Traore, 6 - Brought on in place of Trezeguet, but the change had minimal effect and Bamford fired a sensational second just seconds after his introduction. EPA
LEEDS UNITED RATINGS: Illan Meslier, 7 – Was restricted to the role of a spectator for large spells, but when called upon showed remarkable reactions to turn Ezri Konsa’s flick over the bar. One the one occasion that he was comfortably beaten, Ayling came to the rescue. AFP
Stuart Dallas, 6 – Another accomplished display from the versatile Northern Ireland international, who was good value for his side’s clean sheet and provided plenty of attacking support at the other end. EPA
Robin Koch, 6 - The German probably won’t have an easier night’s work all season, although he slipped in Costa with a lovely ball down the right as Leeds started brightly before reacting swiftly to nick the ball away to safety with Ollie Watkins lurking. AP
Luke Ayling 7 - Far from his most natural role, but produced a competent display, and used his body expertly to see off the charging Trezeguet. When he did find himself in jeopardy, recovered superbly to hack Grealish’s effort off the line. AFP
Ezgjan Alioski, 7 – Wasted no time in pushing on down the left and floated a wonderful cross into the Villa box but Bamford couldn’t convert. That set the tone for another good outing from the left-back who never shied away from a powerful charge forward on the left. AP
Pascal Struijk, 3 - The Belgium-born midfielder went into the book for a late challenge on Grealish and was fortunate not to be shown a second moments later. Bielsa clearly sensed he was walking a tightrope and he was withdrawn in the 21st minute. AP
Helder Costa, 8 - The Portuguese was outstanding in a display full of energy and the Villa defence had no answer to his unrelenting energy levels. He was effective in front of his own goal too, doing just enough to put off Grealish with the Villa star ready to pull the trigger. EPA
Mateusz Klich, 7 – He might have had an assist to his name had Bamford been more clinical in the first half, but the midfielder’s storming run through midfield played a huge part in allowing Bamford to make it 2-0. AFP
Rodrigo, 7 - Showed excellent movement and awareness to put himself in dangerous areas, only to be thwarted by two colossal blocks from Villa defenders. A decent display though, and he assisted the only goal of the game when Martinez could only palm his effort to Bamford. AP
Jack Harrison, 8 – Let’s hope Pep was watching. The Manchester City loanee seemed to relish his role on the left and he terrorised Matty Cash as Leeds ran riot in a glowing display. AP
Patrick Bamford, 9 - Six for the season now for Bamford who wasted a host of first-half chances, but was rewarded for his persistence with a stunning second-half hat-trick that featured a poacher's tap-in and a couple of screamers. AFP
SUBS: Jamie Shackleton, 6 - Replaced Struijk with just 21 minutes played and the youngster provided a cool head that Leeds desperately needed in the middle. An impressive performance. AFP
Pablo Hernandez, NR - Wasted no time in hurling himself into the thick of the action following his late introduction, causing chaos in the Villa penalty area with a dangerous cross before blazing a golden opportunity skyward. AP
