Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is optimistic of tying Manuel Neuer to a new contract after the club captain last week said he was "irritated" by details of his talks with the club leaking to the media. "So I hope we'll be able to extend Manuel's contract," Salihamidzic told Sunday's edition of Die Welt, with the Bayern goalkeeper's current deal expiring in June 2021. Negotiations between the Bundesliga leaders and the 92-time capped Germany international about extending his nine-year stay in Bavaria appeared to hit a snag last week when Neuer said details of the talks were constantly appearing in the media and were "untrue". "Since nothing has been leaked since then, I guess the mole has moved on," Salihamidzic added. If no agreement can be reached with Neuer, 34, the club may decide to cash in on one of Europe's most highly-rated shot stoppers this summer rather than risk losing out on a fee for him in 2021. According to Bild, Neuer and his agent Frank Kroth are demanding a five-year deal, with a salary of €20 million (Dh79.9m) per season. Undisputed No 1 for nearly a decade, Neuer's future at Bayern has been thrown into doubt by the impending arrival of young Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.
