Frank Lampard reported to be on the verge of Chelsea sack: managers under owner Roman Abramovich – in pictures

Reports in UK suggest Lampard will be latest in long line of sackings under Russian's ownership

Frank Lampard is on the verge of being relieved of his duties as Chelsea manager, according to a report in the UK.

The Telegraph newspaper reported Monday that Lampard, 42, is set to pay for Chelsea's poor recent run with the sack.

The London club spent nearly £300 million ($409m) on new players ahead of this season, but have failed to mount a serious title challenge after finishing fourth in Lampard's debut season in charge.

Despite Sunday's FA Cup win over Championship side Luton Town, Lampard's position has been the subject of intense speculation due to poor league form that has seen them lose three of their last five games.

The Blues are currently ninth in the table 11 points off leaders Manchester City and five behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

Lampard is the 12th different manager to serve under Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
