Eden Hazard will not leave Chelsea in January despite Real Madrid 'dream'

Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has said he has no intention of leaving the club in January, days after declaring the chance to join Real Madrid would fulfill a childhood "dream".

Hazard has been in blistering form for the London club this season, scoring eight goals in all competitions, as Maurizio Sarri's unbeaten side sit joint top of the Premier League alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.

Following Chelsea's most recent victory - a 3-0 win at Southampton where Hazard contributed the opening goal - the Belgium international revealed his dilemma between signing a new long-term contract with the club and moving to Real Madrid, who he described as "the best club in the world".

Speaking at a news conference ahead of Belgium's Uefa Nations League clash with Switzerland in Brussels on Friday, it was put to Hazard that to win the Ballon d'Or - as the world's best player - he would have to play in Spain.

"That's why I want to go, maybe," said a smiling Hazard, who will enter the final year of his Chelsea contract at the end of this season. Asked if that move might happen in January, Hazard said: "No."

The Belgium playmaker is not short of confidence at present and asked on Thursday whether he was the world's best player on form, his answer was unequivocal.

"Yes," he said. "The team is helping me a lot also. I can improve for sure. We can always improve in football. We can score more goals, more assists."
