Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League after a crushing 3-2 defeat at RB Leipzig. United got off to a terrible start with Angelino opening the scoring in the second minute, the Spanish left back’s seventh goal in 17 competitive appearances since joining Leipzig on loan from Manchester City. Angelino soon followed up with a cross for Amadou Haidara, who scored with a volley, and Justin Kluivert made it 3-0 in the 69th minute after chipping United goalkeeper David de Gea. Bruno Fernandes pulled one back with a penalty ten minutes from time, and Paul Pogba gave United hope of getting the point they needed two minutes later, but it proved too big a task. United now drop into the Europa League - a competition they won in 2017 while Leipzig advance to the Champions League last 16 having reached the last four in 2019-20.
