Crystal Palace are in a dangerous position heading into their weekend fixture with Newcastle. They have amassed 30 points - not a bad haul after 26 games - but are sliding into the relegation struggle unless they can find some form. After picking up a geat point at Manchster City, they have suffred three succesive defeats - two of them at home - which is hardly reassuring the fans and manager Roy Hodgson. At one stage this season, Palace were up there with Sheffield United in posing a surprise threat towards the top end of the table. They were fifth as recently as early December, but a run of one victory in their past 11 games leaves them looking nervously over their shoulders. Goals are the problem, with Jordan Ayew - their top scorer with six - averaging one every 354 minutes, while Wilfried Zaha has only three in the league after scoring 10 last term. Despite their struggles, Palace players are being rewarded handsomely for their efforts. According to Sportrac.com, an online team and player contract website, one player is out on his own as top earner, a striker who pockets an annual salary of £6.76 million (Dh18.6m), or £130,000 a week. Probably no surprise who that is. Above is a photo gallery of Palace players and their weekly salaries. The figures were recorded at the start of the 2019/20 season, and do not include any new and improved terms signed by any players, or some undisclosed wages.
