Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah get into the Halloween spirit

Cristiano Ronaldo is normally seen terrifying defenders on the pitch, but given the time of year he decided to have a go at scaring people off the pitch too.

The Juventus striker, fresh from his last-minute winner against Genoa in midweek, dressed up for Halloween and tried to give his teammates a fright at the training ground.

He wore a costume which had one face similar to The Joker, and then a second clown below the waist as he wandered around looking for teammates to scare.

"Happy Halloween everyone," the 34-year-old captioned his Instagram video in which he locates an unconcerned looking Miralem Pjanic and a welcoming Wojciech Szczesny with Michael Jackson's Thriller accompanying the clip.

Elsewhere in the football fraternity, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah said he was "trying my hardest to look scary" as he posted this image on October 31.

The Egyptian, who scored the winner against Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, should be back in action on Saturday when Liverpool travel to Aston Villa as they aim to keep their unbeaten run going.

While the Premier League stars showing off their Halloween spirit were few and far between compared to previous years, Leicester City's Jamie Vardy didn't pass up the opportunity.

The Premier League top scorer this season with nine goals was dressed for the occasion with his family.

Former England and Manchester United player David Beckham was in on the act too as he and his children dressed up in the United States.
