Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is bullish on the prospects of striker Stevan Jovetic rounding into form in his second season at the Etihad Stadium.
Jovetic, 24, is hoping to catch Pellegrini’s eye this term after a first season in which his £22m move from Fiorentina was marred by injury and illness.
The Montenegro international is now fully fit and, after shining in pre-season, started the season-opener at St James’ Park.
With last season’s top scorer Sergio Aguero still not match-fit and Alvaro Negredo out injured, Jovetic is likely to continue for Monday’s visit of Liverpool.
Pellegrini said: “I think Stevan is playing very well. He is in a very good moment with us and I hope he will continue in the same way because he is a very important and very good player for us.
“He is a very good finisher and we will see the real Stevan Jovetic this season.”
Pellegrini also hailed the improvement in striker Edin Dzeko during his time in charge.
Bosnia international Dzeko has enjoyed a new lease of life since Pellegrini arrived at the Etihad Stadium and was this week rewarded with a new four-year contract.
Dzeko appeared to fall out of favour under previous manager Roberto Mancini but last season repaid Pellegrini’s faith by scoring 26 goals.
Nine of that tally came in City’s last 12 games and proved vital to their English Premier League title success but Pellegrini is just as impressed by his developing all-round game.
The Chilean said: “Edin has convinced himself that he can’t wait as a striker just to score one goal.
“He has to play for 95 minutes every game, not always scoring but working for the team and making the movements.
“I think he is one of the players who has improved most in his attitude in the game.”
Dzeko, a £27 million (Dh164.3m) signing from Wolfsburg in 2011, underlined his value with a superb backheeled assist for David Silva’s opener in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Newcastle.
News of Dzeko’s new deal came after Aguero, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Samir Nasri and Aleksandar Kolarov agreed fresh contracts earlier in the summer.
Pellegrini said: “I was very pleased because I think that Edin is a very important player for our squad. He is playing very well and so he deserved to renew his contract with the club.”

Microsoft’s ‘hacker-in-chief’ David Weston, creator of the tech company’s Windows Red Team, advises simple steps to help people avoid falling victim to cyber fraud:
1. Always get the latest operating system on your smartphone or desktop, as it will have the latest innovations. An outdated OS can erode away all investments made in securing your device or system.
2. After installing the latest OS version, keep it patched; this means repairing system vulnerabilities which are discovered after the infrastructure components are released in the market. The vast majority of attacks are based on out of date components – there are missing patches.
3. Multi-factor authentication is required. Move away from passwords as fast as possible, particularly for anything financial. Cybercriminals are targeting money through compromising the users’ identity – his username and password. So, get on the next level of security using fingertips or facial recognition.
4. Move your personal as well as professional data to the cloud, which has advanced threat detection mechanisms and analytics to spot any attempt. Even if you are hit by some ransomware, the chances of restoring the stolen data are higher because everything is backed up.
5. Make the right hardware selection and always refresh it. We are in a time where a number of security improvement processes are reliant on new processors and chip sets that come with embedded security features. Buy a new personal computer with a trusted computing module that has fingerprint or biometric cameras as additional measures of protection.

Dr Amal Khalid Alias revealed a recent case of a woman with daughters, who specifically wanted a boy.
A semen analysis of the father showed abnormal sperm so the couple required IVF.
Out of 21 eggs collected, six were unused leaving 15 suitable for IVF.
A specific procedure was used, called intracytoplasmic sperm injection where a single sperm cell is inserted into the egg.
On day three of the process, 14 embryos were biopsied for gender selection.
The next day, a pre-implantation genetic report revealed four normal male embryos, three female and seven abnormal samples.
Day five of the treatment saw two male embryos transferred to the patient.
The woman recorded a positive pregnancy test two weeks later.

Changing visa rules
For decades the UAE has granted two and three year visas to foreign workers, tied to their current employer. Now that's changing.
Last year, the UAE cabinet also approved providing 10-year visas to foreigners with investments in the UAE of at least Dh10 million, if non-real estate assets account for at least 60 per cent of the total. Investors can bring their spouses and children into the country.
It also approved five-year residency to owners of UAE real estate worth at least 5 million dirhams.
The government also said that leading academics, medical doctors, scientists, engineers and star students would be eligible for similar long-term visas, without the need for financial investments in the country.
The first batch - 20 finalists for the Mohammed bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Distinction.- were awarded in January and more are expected to follow.

How will Gen Alpha invest?
Mark Chahwan, co-founder and chief executive of robo-advisory firm Sarwa, forecasts that Generation Alpha (born between 2010 and 2024) will start investing in their teenage years and therefore benefit from compound interest.
“Technology and education should be the main drivers to make this happen, whether it’s investing in a few clicks or their schools/parents stepping up their personal finance education skills,” he adds.
Mr Chahwan says younger generations have a higher capacity to take on risk, but for some their appetite can be more cautious because they are investing for the first time. “Schools still do not teach personal finance and stock market investing, so a lot of the learning journey can feel daunting and intimidating,” he says.
He advises millennials to not always start with an aggressive portfolio even if they can afford to take risks. “We always advise to work your way up to your risk capacity, that way you experience volatility and get used to it. Given the higher risk capacity for the younger generations, stocks are a favourite,” says Mr Chahwan.
Highlighting the role technology has played in encouraging millennials and Gen Z to invest, he says: “They were often excluded, but with lower account minimums ... a customer with $1,000 [Dh3,672] in their account has their money working for them just as hard as the portfolio of a high get-worth individual.”
