DeAndre Yedlin - 6: Rare start for the American right-back who looked to get forward whenever possible. Good cross into box in first half that Joelinton headed over. Found Robinson a handful down his flank. Reuters

Federico Fernandez - 6: Nearly gave away penalty when he fouled Anguissa on edge of box after 25 minutes but still plenty of other more timely challenges from the Argentine who was forced off at half-time. Reuters

Ciaran Clark - 7: Impressive show form the former Aston Villa defender who is a calm presence at the back. Fulham furious that penalty wasn’t given in injury time when ball hit his hand. Probably would have been given at start of season. Reuters

Sean Longstaff - 6: Fantastic crunching tackle on Robinson to win back possession after quarter of an hour and prevent Fulham counter-attack. Good defensive work from the Geordie midfielder but really poor distribution at times. Ambitious long-range free-kick easily saved by Areola. EPA

Jonjo Shelvey – 5: Midfielder looked off the pace as the game generally past him by. Wasted free-kick in perfect place just outside of box just after break when he curled harmlessly over bar. Reuters

Matt Ritchie - 6: Saw plenty of ball early on, a couple of good crosses, one woeful shot that nearly hit the corner flag. His pass set-up chance for Almiron that saw Paraguayan almost open the scoring. Comical own-goal that went in off his face. EPA

Miguel Almiron - 6: Had low shot in first half well saved by Areola. Buzzed around constantly and his pace always provides a threat although has a frustrating habit of over-reacting to challenges. AP

Joelinton - 5: Little or no threat in and around the penalty area in opening 45 minutes. Headed chance way over bar in first half. Could have put Wilson through on goal but awful pass went straight to Fulham player. Let Adarabioyo have free header that led to Ritchie own goal. Made himself chance in second half but break into box was blocked by Areola. EPA

Callum Wilson - 7: Saw header after 10 minutes easily saved by Areola but service was non-existent in first half. Brought down by Andersen for the penalty that he converted for his eight league goal of the season. EPA

Joachim Andersen - 6: Hardly troubled by Newcastle attack in first half. One perfectly-timed challenge to deny Joelinton chance in second half but then gave away penalty with clumsy challenge on Brazilian minutes later that saw him sent-off. Fulham were in control until his red card. EPA

Tosin Adarabioyo - 7: Headed chance from corner in first half wide of the target and it was another of his headers that forced own-goal from Ritchie. Getty

Bobby De Cordova-Reid - 7: Late replacement for the injured Ivan Cavaleiro and should have opened the scoring after 32 minutes but completely miss-hit first-time shot. EPA

Ademola Lookman - 6: Header after 12 minutes comfortably saved by Darlow. Felt he should have had first-half penalty following challenge by Yedlin – referee and VAR thought otherwise. Stung Darlow’s hands with second-half strike. PA

Aleksandar Mitrovic - 4: Showed early intent against old club with ambitious strike from distance in first 10 seconds but that was as good as it got. One dreadful touch five minutes after break wasted what was great chance for Fulham to double their lead. PA

Callum Wilson’s eighth goal of the season handed Newcastle a 1-1 draw against 10-man Fulham in the Premier League.

Wilson converted a 64th-minute penalty after being fouled by Fulham defender Joachim Andersen, who was sent off following a VAR review.

“What I’ve just seen, the contact initially made outside the box, he then goes into the box and dives,” Fulham manager Scott Parker said.

“So again the ref decides to give the penalty. We have VAR, he then goes over to the screen, unless he’s seen something totally different, to me I just don’t understand.

“The game’s changed drastically and it hasn’t changed for the better in my opinion. It becomes a shouting match on the side of the pitch. And it’s just a mess to be honest.”

Matt Ritchie’s own-goal in the 42nd minute allowed Fulham to go in front and they moved out of the relegation zone due to a superior goal difference, while Newcastle are eight points higher up the standings in 12th place.

“It’s disappointing, we started the game well but then let them into the game with a sloppy goal,” Wilson said.

"Then you have a mountain to climb and sometimes it’s harder against 10 men. We just couldn’t find the breakthrough to break them down.”
