Bert van Marwijk was back putting the UAE through their paces on Sunday, as the Dutchman took his first training session with the team following his reappointment last month.

Van Marwijk, who managed the national team between March and December 2019, replaced Jorge Luis Pinto in the dugout and is charged initially with guiding the UAE through the second round of 2022 World Cup qualification. That resumes in March, with the first of four fixtures in Group G. The UAE sit fourth in the standings, five points off leaders Vietnam.

Van Marwijk's 27-man squad began their training camp on Sunday at Al Wasl’s Zabeel Stadium in Dubai, and will continue to train there until January 12, when they face Iraq in a friendly.
