After a surprise 2-1 defeat to Lens in their previous Champions League game, the Gunners collected a much-needed three points - but not until after a serious test of their mettle in Andalusia. Gabriel Martinelli showed his electric pace to give the visitors the lead by marking his Champions League debut with a goal, bursting on to Jesus' brilliant through ball to round the goalkeeper in the dying moments of the first half. Jesus then doubled Arsenal's tally early in the second half with an unstoppable strike into the far top corner. Sevilla got back into the game when Nemanja Gudelj headed in Ivan Rakitic's perfect corner. Arsenal had to withstand some heavy pressure late on as the hosts searched for an equaliser, and keeper David Raya endured some jittery moments, including one botched attempt to punch clear. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said of match-winner Jesus, who left the match early with a suspected hamstring injury: "You need magic moments in big games and big players to step in and create those moments, today he has done something special."
