Kane on target again as Spurs maintain impressive start

  TOTTENHAM RATINGS: Hugo Lloris 6 - A quiet afternoon for the French international, only facing tame efforts. However generated audible frustration from home fans with some poor distribution, particularly in the first half. Getty

  Ivan Perisic 7 - Capped an impressive full home debut with a smartly flicked assist for Harry Kane’s goal. Struggled to impress in the first half but grew as the contest progressed, carving out a few decent opportunities. AFP

  Dejan Kulusevski 6 - By his usual exceptional standards, it was a quieter showing from the Swede. Struggled in the first half especially to influence. Grew into the game much more in the second half, playing a couple of pinpoint passes and crosses. Getty

  WOLVES RATINGS: Jose Sa 6 - No chance with the goal, made all the saves that he was expected to. Like Lloris frustrated the away fans and his manager with some of his distribution choices. AFP

  Nathan Collins 6 - Impressive performance but let himself down with lapse in concentration for the deciding goal, allowing Kane to peel off his shoulder for an unmarked header from close range. In possession absolutely excellent. AFP

  Max Kilman 7 - Should be on Gareth Southgate’s radar ahead of the next set of international friendlies before the World Cup. Another assured performance in defence and in possession. AFP

  Matheus Nunes 6 - A quiet introduction to English football for the Portuguese midfielder. Didn’t really impose himself, but showed his quality in the manner he moved the ball around. Had a half chance with a flicked header that just span past the far post. Getty

  Joao Moutinho 6 - Kept possession moving well and helped dictate the tempo in the first half especially, but faded out of the contest. AP

  Ruben Neves 8 - Impressive once again from the sought-after midfielder. Ran the show for large parts, carved out a few decent opportunities. Also an excellent defensive showing and screening in front of his two centre halves. Getty

  Pedro Neto 6 - Out of possession he was filling in as a right wing-back, which limited his influence at the top end of the pitch. Getty

  Daniel Podence 6 - Filled in as a false 9 but struggled to influence and wildly snatched at a chance in the first half, scuffing it wide on the half volley. Getty

  Goncalo Guedes 7 - Proved to be a real outlet and focal point for the visitors, despite starting wide. Brave in possession, often getting the better of those around him. However faded as the game progressed. Getty

Harry Kane scored for the second straight game to secure a 1-0 win for Tottenham over Wolves in the Premier League and maintain his team's unbeaten start to the season.

Kane lost his marker near the back post to head in following a flick-on from Ivan Perisic at a corner in the 64th minute.

It was his 185th Premier League goal, moving him into outright fourth place in the all-time top-flight list above former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero. Only Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney and Andrew Cole are above him.

Tottenham have seven points from a possible nine, having opened the season with a 4-1 win over Southampton.

Wolves, who only have one point from three games, started new signing Matheus Nunes in midfield and had the better of the first half to frustrate Spurs and the home fans.

The visitors didn't create any clear-cut chances, though, and Tottenham came more into the game after halftime as Perisic — making his first start since his move from Inter Milan — started to have some joy down the left.

Kane headed against the crossbar from a cross by Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min was denied by a last-ditch tackle after being sent through by Kane's quick free kick.
