Manchester City received a significant boost ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg against Real Madrid with the news that Kyle Walker is in contention to feature on Wednesday. Walker has not played since picking up an ankle injury against Atletico Madrid in last month's Champions League quarter-final, and manager Pep Guardiola said he will make a late call on his fitness for the clash at the Bernabeu. City will be looking to defend their 4-3 first-leg lead against Madrid, with a place in the final in Paris up for grabs. Fellow England international John Stones, who limped off in City's win over Real at the Etihad Stadium last week and missed Saturday's Premier League win at Leeds United, remains unavailable. "Walker trained and he will travel. We will decide tomorrow. He is three weeks without training but happy he is back ... Stones is not fit," Guardiola said on Tuesday. City will look to reach their second straight Champions League final when they take on newly-crowned La Liga champions Real, hoping to erase memories of last year's defeat to Chelsea in the title match in Porto. "Two good teams, we saw it one week ago. They are champions in Spain, we are trying to be champions here," Guardiola said. "We saw in the other game things we have to improve and we are going to try and do it." The manager said City will probably have to improve on their first leg performance. Early goals from Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus gave City a comfortable lead at the Etihad Stadium, before Karim Benzema pulled one back in the first half. Phil Foden then put City two goal ahead after the break, only for Vinicius Jr to keep Real Madrid in the hunt. City again pulled clear through a stunning Bernardo Silva strike but Benzema kept the contest alive with a superb Panenka-style penalty. "Yes, probably we will have to be better [than in leg one to go through]," Guardiola added. "But at the same time I would like to tell you one thing - we could play much, much worse than we played and we could win, and not anyone can deny my assessment is right. "So nobody knows, football is unpredictable. Sometimes you get something you don't deserve, sometimes you don't get something maybe you deserve, for the effort, for many things."
