Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has said the players are "excited" for the arrival of Erik ten Hag as their new manager at the end of the season. Ajax manager <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/04/21/erik-ten-hag-confirmed-as-new-manchester-united-manager-on-three-year-deal/" target="_blank">Ten Hag has signed a three-year contract</a> that will see him take charge at Old Trafford this summer, with the Dutchman's impending arrival putting an end to months of speculation and providing the Premier League club some much-needed clarity. Following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, United have been led by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis. Ten Hag will arrive at United after a successful spell in Amsterdam, where he has led Ajax to two Dutch league and cup doubles and the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals. "I don't think you need to see a lot to know that he's a great manager," Dalot told Sky Sports. "What he's done with Ajax is something outstanding. "He plays very attractive football, I think every fan of United is excited to have a manager like this, and we as the players are as well. "In our heads, it's going to be clear who the manager will be next season and that's good, because we go for our break ... knowing who to expect. Then we'll have time in pre-season to work together, get our ideas right and start the new season." Rangnick, who will stay on in a consultancy role at United despite being appointed Austria's head coach, is set to discuss the future of Cristiano Ronaldo with Ten Hag. In a largely disappointing season for United, Ronaldo has been one of the few consistent performers. The Portuguese forward has scored 23 goals in all competitions, and Dalot was full of praise for his teammate. "I don't have any more compliments to give about the way he works, he's a fantastic human being," Dalot said. "The numbers are there, the stats are there, so we're happy to have him."
