Liverpool's bid to become European champions for a seventh time starts again on Wednesday when the English club take on Inter Milan in Italy. The <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/tags/champions-league" target="_blank">Champions League</a> last-16 first-leg game sees six-time winners <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/tags/liverpool" target="_blank">Liverpool</a> face three-time champions Inter at the San Siro. Manager Jurgen Klopp has a full-strength squad to take on the Italians with the likes of <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/tags/mohamed-salah" target="_blank">Mohamed Salah</a>, Sadio Mane - both back from Africa Cup of Nations duty - and <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/01/30/liverpool-sign-attacker-luis-diaz-from-porto-in-potential-50m-deal/" target="_blank">January signing Luis Diaz</a> all out on the training pitch on Tuesday. Jordan Henderson also trained despite picking up a knee injury in their weekend win over Burnley and was fit to travel with the squad. Inter, managed by Simone Inzaghi, finished second in their Champions League group with 10 points, five behind table-topping Real Madrid. They are currently second in Serie A, just one-point behind AC Milan but they have a game in hand on their city rivals. On Saturday, Inter drew 1-1 at Napoli with former Manchester City attacker Edin Dzeko grabbing a second-half leveller for Inzaghi's men. Liverpool, meanwhile, are also second in their domestic league with Jurgen Klopp's side trailing <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/tags/premier-league/" target="_blank">Premier League</a> leaders Manchester City by nine points but the Merseyside club have a game in hand. On Saturday, <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/sport/football/2022/02/13/fabinho-helps-liverpool-avoid-burnley-banana-skin-after-attritional-contest/" target="_blank">they edged out Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor</a> with Fabinho scoring the only goal of the game. The Reds topped Champion League Group B, winning all six of their games, finishing a whopping 11 points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid.
