First Division Masafi play Pro League Al Wahda while Ahli clash with Wasl for semi-final spot

Little Masafi of Ras al Khaimah will play Al Wahda, the Pro League champions, at 5.30pm today at the Al Wasl club in Dubai with a place in the President's Cup semi-finals at stake.

Masafi play in Group B of the First Division, the lowest level of competition overseen by the Football Association, and did not manage a shot on goal in a 3-0 loss to Al Ain in their last-16 game.

However, Masafi, who sometimes train only once per week, progressed to the quarter-final stage in the competition when Al Ain were found to have used an ineligible player, the forward Jumaa Saaed.

Masafi defeated Sharjah via a penalty shoot-out in the first round of the competition in September.

Wahda lost twice in Pro League play last week, including a surprise 5-3 defeat away to Kalba, who sit bottom of the table, and will be looking for a return to form ahead of their Asian Champions League home match with Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan on Wednesday.

Also tonight, the Pro League sides Al Ahli and Al Wasl meet at 8.30pm at the Al Shabab club in Dubai. Wasl defeated Ahli 2-0 on Saturday in a Pro League match.

Ahli, in particular, will be keen to progress because they are out of the Etisalat Cup and 14 points behind Al Jazira in the Pro League table. Wasl, meanwhile, are through to the semi-finals of the Etisalat Cup, to be played on March 10.

In quarter-final games tomorrow, Jazira meet the holders Emirates at 5.30pm at Al Ahli's ground, and the First Division side Al Dhaid play Al Shabab at 8.30 at Sharjah.

Emirates defeated Wahda in the semi-finals last year and Shabab in the final despite being relegated from the Pro League last season.

Al Dhaid beat Kalba 4-2 in the first round and Dibba al Fujairah 2-1 in their last-16 game. Shabab eliminated Baniyas in the last round.
