Eduardo will be hoping to put the past behind him if he makes his long-awaited return to the Arsenal side against Cardiff. Next week will be a year since he thought his football career was over when he broke his leg following a late challenge by the Birmingham defender Martin Taylor in a Premier League game. It has been a long road back for the Brazilian-born player, who is in the squad to face Cardiff in the FA Cup fourth round replay.
Arsene Wenger left him on the bench against Spurs last week, but the Croatia coach Slaven Bilic used him as a substitute in last week's friendly with Romania. With Emmanuel Adebayor injured and Andrei Arshavin ineligible, Eduardo could play and Wenger said: "The players are motivated for the Cardiff game and want to win, but I believe the first trophy you want is qualifying for the Champions League, then to win the Premier League and win the Champions League. Then, other trophies you go after."
