The Chicago Cubs have boosted their ranks by acquiring the right-handed pair Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin from the Oakland Athletics . Going the other way are the right-hander Sean Gallagher, the outfielder Matt Murton, the in-fielder Eric Patterson and the catcher Josh Donaldson. The move comes a day after their National League Central Division rival Milwaukee Brewers signed CC Sabathia from the Cleveland Indians.
Harden will provide the Cubs another front-line starter to go with Carlos Zambrano However, there is an injury risk with Harden, 26, who recently missed a month of action with a strained right shoulder. Gaudin, 25, has made 26 appearances - six starts - this season. He has not allowed an earned run in 15 of those 20 relief outings . * PA Sport
