CG Racing made history at the Dubai Kartdrome this weekend as they became the first team to win all three titles in one season to crown a fine campaign.
Strong team
CG Racing Pro — consisting of David Terrien, Alban Varutti, Piers Pakenham-Walsh and the Azzam brothers Rami and Ramez — overcame a field of 32 teams from around the globe to win the Kartdome 24 Hours, the final race of the championship.
Triple threat
CG Racing’s two teams finished first and second in the Corporate Category, claiming No 1 and No 2 in the championship, while their all-Lebanese team in the Nations Cup finished second in that category — behind the all-Emirati Dubai-5 — to win the title.
Targets achieved
Pierre Choueiri, CG Racing team owner, said: “At the beginning of the season we set out to win all three titles — mission accomplished. To our rivals, I say well done and my advice is to work hard. We are beatable. It can be done, but it’s a question of perseverance and hard work.”
All-round effort
David Terrien, CG Racing Pro captain, said: “This is a fantastic team effort. We had fun, but the key is that we all worked well together.” Oliver Saade, CG Racing 1 captain, added: “In the end, we have a team of more than 40 people and it was a total team effort from the young office boy right up to the big boss. ”
UAE disappointment
It was heartbreak in the main event for Dubai Falcons Racing Team — with Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum, Saeed Al Mehairi and Mohamed Al Mutawaa in the line-up — who started top on points but had to settle for third.
