DUBAI // Ibrahim Diaky's penalty six minutes from time put Al Jazira eight points clear at the top of the Pro League table.
Diaky's 11th goal of the season from the spot came after his teammate Bare had been felled by Humaid Abbas, the Al Nasr defender, in the area.
Jazira, who are unbeaten this season, had looked as if they would have to settle for a draw until then. They had taken the lead in the 20th minute as Bare found the net with a low shot, but the home side got themselves back on level terms six minutes after the restart as Careca made an immediate impact on his league debut with a fine finish.
But Jazira kept going and were worth the points, although Ahmed Jumaa, a second half substitute for the Abu Dhabi side, acknowledged they had not been at their best.
"The three points was the most important from this game," he said.
"Nasr were a vastly improved side and they played well on the night. It was a fast and open game as both teams played an attacking game. It shows the teams, particularly Nasr tonight, had prepared well during the break.
"But we are happy for the three points and hopefully we can continue with this trend, something we haven't been able to do in the past two years."
Meanwhile, in tonight's action Al Wahda are hoping to get their slender hope of their Pro League title defence back on track when they face Al Wasl tonight at the Al Nahyan stadium.
The defending champions are lagging in seventh on 15 points and have an uphill task on closing the gap behind the leaders Al Jazira. Wahda will also have revenge in their mind after the 2-0 defeat in the opening night of the league on August 26.
Al Ahli will also look to avenge their shock 2-0 loss to Al Dhafra away in the curtain raiser game in the Pro League when the two sides meet in Dubai.

China and the UAE agree comprehensive strategic partnership
China and the UAE forged even closer links between the two countries during the landmark state visit after finalising a ten-point agreement on a range of issues, from international affairs to the economy and trade and renewable energy.
1. Politics: The two countries agreed to support each other on issues of security and to work together on regional and international challenges. The nations also confirmed that the number of high-level state visits between China and the UAE will increase.
2. Economy: The UAE offers its full support to China's Belt and Road Initiative, which will combine a land 'economic belt" and a "maritime silk road" that will link China with the Arabian Gulf as well as Southeast, South and Central China, North Africa and, eventually, Europe.
3. Business and innovation: The two nations are committed to exploring new partnerships in sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, energy, the aviation and transport industries and have vowed to build economic co-operation through the UAE-China Business Committee.
4. Education, science and technology: The Partnership Programme between Arab countries in Science and Technology will encourage young Emirati scientists to conduct research in China, while the nations will work together on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, renewable energy and space projects.
5. Renewable energy and water: The two countries will partner to develop renewable energy schemes and work to reduce climate change. The nations have also reiterated their support for the Abu Dhabi-based International Renewable Energy Agency.
6. Oil and gas: The UAE and China will work in partnership in the crude oil trade and the exploration and development of oil and natural gas resources.
7. Military and law enforcement and security fields: Joint training will take place between the Chinese and UAE armed forces, while the two nations will step up efforts to combat terrorism and organised crime.
8. Culture and humanitarian issues: Joint cultural projects will be developed and partnerships will be cultivated on the preservation of heritage, contemporary art and tourism.
9. Movement between countries: China and the UAE made clear their intent to encourage travel between the countries through a wide-ranging visa waiver agreement.

Safety 'top priority' for rival hyperloop company
The chief operating officer of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Andres de Leon, said his company's hyperloop technology is “ready” and safe.
He said the company prioritised safety throughout its development and, last year, Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance companies, announced it was ready to insure their technology.
“Our levitation, propulsion, and vacuum technology have all been developed [...] over several decades and have been deployed and tested at full scale,” he said in a statement to The National.
“Only once the system has been certified and approved will it move people,” he said.
HyperloopTT has begun designing and engineering processes for its Abu Dhabi projects and hopes to break ground soon.
With no delivery date yet announced, Mr de Leon said timelines had to be considered carefully, as government approval, permits, and regulations could create necessary delays.
