The Deccan Chargers are proving to be a cat among the pigeons. Their own hopes of reaching the IPL semi-finals hang by a thread, but they dented the Royal Challengers Bangalore's chances with an impressive win on Thursday night after five consecutive losses. Rejuvenated, they could have the same impact on the fate of Chennai Super Kings when the two sides meet in a must-win match in Nagpur today. The Chargers have won four of their 10 games, while Chennai have done only marginally better, winning five of their 10. A win for the Chargers, the defending champions, could really spice up the race to the semis. Confidence is high in Adam Gilchrist's camp after the win in Bangalore. "We are still alive in the tournament, said Rohit Sharma, Deccan's middle-order strokemaker, speaking on television after Thursday's win. "We have four games left and if we win even three of those, we can make it to the semis if our run-rate is healthy." Chennai are also on a high after defending 165 against the table-topping Mumbai Indians in the last game, but must not let their guard down if they are to build on that success. Bangalore, after losing four of their last five games, will be looking to get their campaign back on track when they host the Kolkata Knight Riders. Both teams have five wins and need three more from their remaining four games to be assured of a place in the semis. Kolkata's hopes, however, have suffered a setback with news of an injury doubt about Sourav Ganguly, their captain and opening batsman. Ganguly, who was the star of the win over Delhi Daredevils, injured an ankle during that game. * Compiled by Ahmed Rizvi
