India maintained their formidable record at home by crushing South Africa by an innings and 137 runs in the second Test in Pune to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series on Sunday.

The Proteas were asked to follow on on Sunday, after getting dismissed for 275 late on Saturday, and were out for 189 in their second innings in a little over two sessions.

Spinner Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3-52 while seamer Umesh Yadav finished with 3-22.

It was the fourth straight win in as many Tests in the World Test Championship for Virat Kohli's team, who have now won 11 consecutive Test series at home. The last time the Indians lost at home was in 2012 when England beat them 2-1.

India beat Australia's record of 10 consecutive Test series victory at home.
