Pakistan handed fast bowler Haris Rauf his ODI debut as cricket resumed in the country with the first match of the limited overs series against Zimbabwe in Rawalpindi on Friday. Captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat first at the Pindi Cricket Stadium. Opener Imam-ul-Haq made 58 and middle order batsman Haris Sohail scored 71 from 82 as the hosts posted 281-8 from their allotted overs. All batsmen in Pakistan's top 10 reached double digits but no one was able to kick on and make a big score. Both teams are opening their World Cup Super League campaigns after the International Cricket Council introduced the competition to bring context to ODI cricket. The top seven teams in the league will directly qualify for the 2023 Cricket World Cup in India. The league features 13 countries playing four home and away three-match ODI series. Babar captained for the first time in the ODI format, after being appointed during the lockdown. Rauf, who has already played T20 cricket for Pakistan, received his cap from bowling coach Waqar Younis before the toss.
