Democratic Republic of Congo side Vita Club created history Saturday when reaching the CAF Champions League final.
They are the first team in the 50-year history of the premier African club football competition to win a semi-final tie after taking a 2-1 first-leg lead.
Vita also won the return game 2-1 against Tunisians CS Sfaxien in Mediterranean city Sfax to secure a 4-2 aggregate triumph.
Before Vita ended the jinx at Stade Taieb Mhiri, seven clubs were unable to defend a 2-1 first-leg advantage, including Egyptian giants Al Ahly four years ago.
Zied Derbali gave 2006 Champions League runners-up Sfaxien the lead on 26 minutes and Nelson Munganga levelled just before half-time.
Ugandan Yunus Sentamu put the Kinshasa club ahead 10 minutes into the second half, leaving Sfaxien needing at least three goals to survive.
Victory for 1973 winners Vita has created the possibility of more history – a first CAF Champions League final between clubs from the same country.
Fellow Congolese and four-time African champions TP Mazembe host Algerians Entente Setif in Lubumbashi on Sunday hoping to overcome a 2-1 first-leg deficit.

Unresolved crisis
Russia and Ukraine have been locked in a bitter conflict since 2014, when Ukraine’s Kremlin-friendly president was ousted, Moscow annexed Crimea and then backed a separatist insurgency in the east.
