1 Best reveal Two sides to Murray

That Andy Murray’s on-court behaviour is one of the reasons behind Amelie Mauresmo ending her coaching of Murray. “Andy is complex,” she told L’Equipe before the French Open. “On the court, he can be the opposite of what he is in life. It can be confusing.” Becoming a new mother played a role, too, but it cannot be easy being a coach to someone who takes his on-court frustrations out on his own in the players’ box (even if it is just venting).

2 Best welcome Cantona cool on Mourinho

OK, so Jose Mourinho has, as of Wednesday, still not been officially announced as Manchester United’s next manager. But he will be, or at least that is the basis on which Eric Cantona offered this no-nonsense assessment. “I love Jose Mourinho, but in terms of the type of football he plays I don’t think he is Manchester United.” As a roaming, spiritual king of Old Trafford, Cantona’s words matter and he was only echoing a prevalent view (to which, it must be added, there are compelling counter-arguments).

3 Best pass Adams assist to Roberson

We should not hold it against Oklahoma City Thunder’s Steven Adams that he aspires to look like Tom Selleck. Not when he can create the kind of assist he did for Andre Roberson’s dunk, one highlight among many in the Thunder’s Game 4 win over the Golden State Warriors. Adams, from New Zealand, is an enforcer and, though his one-handed fastball pass fit into the image, in a counter-intuitive way it was a subtle piece of thinking. Any slower, or loopier, and it could have been intercepted.

4 Worst luck Sri Lanka's cricket team

Sri Lanka will need all the luck they can get on their tour of England if they are to come out of it unscathed. Not only did they come across an old-style Headingley pitch first up, they lost their best fast bowler Dhammika Prasad to a shoulder injury before the Test. They have now lost their most promising – and quickest – pacer, Dushmantha Chameera. He is suffering from stress fractures in the back and could be out for four months.

5 Most modest Ibrahimovic bids adieu

“I came, I saw, I conquered.” No, not Cristiano Ronaldo. No, this was Zlatan Ibrahimovic, summing up his career with PSG, whom he has now left. To be honest, he was not completely wrong. He helped them win two consecutive domestic trebles, scored 50 goals this season and 156 overall from 180 appearances for PSG. Do not mention the Uefa Champions League though.
