FRANKFURT // Etisalat Pro League side Al Ain have confirmed the acquisition of the Chilean playmaker Jorge Luis Valdivia from Brazilian side Palmeiras. Valdivia has signed a four-year contract in a deal worth 17 million euros (Dh92.3m), Al Ain confirmed in Frankfurt, Germany, where the former Asian Champions League winners are holding their preseason summer training camp. The 24-year-old's agent Joao Francisco had spoke of the move today, while Palmeiras confirmed the switch will be concluded after the player completes a medical. "It is great to join such a big team as Al Ain," said Valdivia. "I will give all I can to lead the team to victory and I hope that my performances will help the team win the league in UAE." Al Ain's German coach Winfred Schaefer was satisfied the deal would be concluded ahead of the start of the domestic season on Sept 19. "I would like to thank Al Ain's administration for their efforts in the recent period which helped us to acquire the services of good foreign players," said Schaefer. "I hope the combination that we will have will help us to get good results in the league."
