Chelsea maintain the charge

Chelsea maintained their 100 per-cent record in the Premier League after Florent Malouda's injury-time strike. The Frenchman drove home the winner four minutes into added-time after some concerted pressure from the visitors. The victory was deserved but the decisive moment was preventable. Stoke failed to clear a long throw and keeper Steve Simonsen got both hands to Malouda's shot, but he could only parry it into the goal.

The home team took the lead after 32 minutes thanks to Petr Cech's poor positioning. The Chelsea keeper misjudged Glenn Whelan's cross and could only watch Abdoulaye Faye's header sail into his gaping net. But the visitors, who have not dropped a point away from Stamford Bridge since March, also made the most of the added time in the first half when they scored in the third minute of the eight added on. Those who questioned Sunderland's wisdom to pay £10m (Dh61m) for striker Darren Bent may be considering a rethink after his display against Hull. The England striker, 25, scored twice as his side won emphatically at the Stadium of Light. Bent, who has four goals in five league games, opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 13 minutes following a needless handball by Craig Fagan.

Hull equalised just before half-time through Kamil Zayatte's header from a corner. But the visitors could not contain Bent. Four minutes after the break Fraizer Campbell flicked on Phil Bardsley's cross, which was hammered home by Andy Reid. And with 25 minutes left, Bent broke down the right wing, cut inside and hammered a low shot between the legs of Hull keeper Boaz Myhill. Michael Turner, making his debut for since joining from Hull two weeks ago, had a hand in the final goal. His header ended up in the net via the unfortunate Zayatte.
