NEW YORK // The Pittsburgh Steelers will begin the defence of their Super Bowl crown at home to the Tennessee Titans when they kick off the 2009 National Football League season on September 10. The NFL revealed its schedule for next season on Tuesday night with the Steelers opening the campaign on a Thursday night against one of 2008's best teams. Pittsburgh logged a 12-4 record in the last regular season, with one of those defeats coming against the 13-3 Titans.
In other Week One match-ups, quarterback Jay Cutler will make his Chicago Bears debut at NFC North rivals Green Bay Packers on the night of Sunday, September 13 while Tom Brady will make his comeback for the New England Patriots at home to the Buffalo Bills. Jim Caldwell's tenure as new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts begins at their Lucas Oil Field home against current AFC South champions and divisional rivals Jacksonville Jaguars on September 13 while the Colts host AFC rivals New England on November 15.
The Dallas Cowboys open their season on the road at Tampa Bay before returning to Texas for their inaugural match at their new 100,000-seat stadium against the New York Giants. AFC champions and Super Bowl runners-up Arizona Cardinals get their campaign up and running at home to divisional rivals the San Francisco 49ers while the Denver Broncos begin life under rookie head coach Josh McDaniels by going to the Cincinnati Bengals on September 13.
