Blackhawks shut-out the Oilers

CHICAGO // The Chicago Blackhawks became the first team to beat the red-hot Edmonton Oilers this season, recording a 3-0 shut-out at home. Patrick Sharp gave Chicago the lead with a powerplay goal early in the game, while the defenceman Brent Seabrook increased the advantage late in the first period. Aaron Johnson put a slap shot past the Edmonton goalie Dwayne Roloson in the second period to seal the win.

"We're just trying to focus on getting the puck in the net and it's finding a way to go in," Sharp said. "It was great to score three goals, and of course the goaltender [Nikolai Khabibulin] stood on his head." The result ended the Oilers' attempt to post a 5-0 record and match their best start to a season. Khabibulin, who did not play during the pre-season, has started four games in front of his fellow goaltender Cristobal Huet.

The Blackhawks (3-2-2) are yet to lose at home in regulation time in four games this season. * Reuters
