Australia ask for Geeves

Australia have drafted in extra bowling cover ahead of the third and final Test against the West Indies in Perth. With paceman Peter Siddle recently hindered by a hamstring strain, Tasmania's uncapped Brett Geeves was summoned to the WACA ahead of tomorrow's start. Geeves, 27, who has appeared for his country at both one-day and Twenty20 level, adds to the fast-bowling contingent on the west coast with Siddle's Victoria teammate Clint McKay already in the squad.

Siddle bowled at a good speed on Monday, a positive sign after his injury restricted his workload during the second innings of the draw in Adelaide last week. However, wicketkeeper Brad Haddin warned: "There is still a little bit of doubt around Peter. "He bowled today, and by all accounts he bowled pretty well, but with these sort of injuries it's not so much the first spell, it's how you pull up the next day."

"So he'll have to be re-assessed tomorrow and we'll see how he goes." One possibility open to Ricky Ponting's Australia is to revert to an all-pace attack, as they did during the summer against England. That would mean omitting off-spinner Nathan Hauritz, who took five wickets in the comprehensive opening win in Brisbane. Haddin, meanwhile, denied suggestions Shane Watson was struggling with injury.

"No Shane's fine," Haddin insisted. "He's been training well today and [he's done] a little bit of extra running at the end of the session as well." The West Indies have a doubt over veteran batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul as they head into a contest they must win to secure a surprise drawn series against the hosts. Chanderpaul was due to have a scan on a finger injury before netting today. * PA Sport
