Andrew Strauss has no plans to quit one-day cricket

COLOMBO // Andrew Strauss, the England captain, said he has not even considered handing over the one-day leadership or retiring from the format.
Media reports in the UK earlier in the tournament had claimed Strauss and Kevin Pietersen, the leading batsman, were planning to stop playing the 50-over game at the conclusion of the World Cup.
However, after last night's comprehensive 10-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka, Strauss refuted that claim and said he expects to play on.

"It is not something I thought of beforehand," Strauss, who led England's Test side to victory in an Ashes series in Australia earlier this winter, said. "I still think I have a lot of cricket in me.
"We are going to have to sit down with the selectors at the end of this tournament and plot the way forwards for both the Test and one-day side.
"We have to think what the best option will be both leadership and personnel-wise. We haven't shown enough quality, that is the reality of it."
While England start the inquest into their exit, Sri Lanka are now focused on beating New Zealand in Colombo on Tuesday and sealing an all-Asian final in Mumbai on Saturday.
"You need a special performance to win big matches, and [Tillakaratne] Dilshan and Upul Tharanga provided the spark and were absolutely magnificent," Kumar Sangakkara, the captain, said.
Despite the landslide win over England, Sangakkara insists his side have much improving to do, particularly in the field, having dropped three catches off Eoin Morgan.
"We have to make sure we don't give that many chances to one batsman, especially if he is one of their best players," he said.
