Al Nasr deny talk of rift with Bresciano

The Dubai side insist there has been no dspute with the Australian international after reports claimed the midfielder wanted away from the club.

DUBAI // Al Nasr have brushed aside media reports claiming representatives of the midfielder Mark Bresciano had sent a letter to the club seeking to terminate his contract.

The Australian international is one of the two foreign players retained by Nasr, alongside the Brazilian midfielder Leonardo Lima - but some media reports yesterday claimed his lawyer had sent a letter to the club seeking a cancellation of the contract and expressing the player’s willingness to pay a penalty clause to effect his release.

“There is no truth to the story,” said Abdullah Al Bannai, a member of the Al Nasr club’s board of directors. “It’s just pure imagination.

“As far as we are concerned, Mark Bresciano is an Al Nasr player and we are waiting for him to return from his vacation and join us for the preseason camp.”

Al Bannai also refused to comment on the club's position as regards Fabrizio Miccoli even as the Italian striker's agent, Francesco Caliandro, claimed a formal deal with Nasr was just "hours away".

The official also said no deal had been signed yet with Giuseppe Mascara, even though the Novara striker has publicly announced he is leaving for Nasr.

Walter Zenga's team, who finished second in the Pro League last season, are looking to replace Luca Toni in the squad and find another striker, after the Ivorian Amara Diane turned down their renewal offer.
