One of the biggest casualties of the Covid-19 pandemic has been jobs. Lockdowns and travel bans have put unprecedented pressure on the global labour market, with tens of millions of people affected. One company with a front-row seat to the life of the white collar worker is LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional networking platform. In the UAE, about half of all adults – 4 million people – are members of the site. LinkedIn crunched the numbers on job postings and new hires and says there are reasons for cautious optimism as we enter a new normal.

Electoral College Victory
Trump has so far secured 295 Electoral College votes, according to the Associated Press, exceeding the 270 needed to win. Only Nevada and Arizona remain to be called, and both swing states are leaning Republican. Trump swept all five remaining swing states, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, sealing his path to victory and giving him a strong mandate.

The count is ongoing, but Trump currently leads with nearly 51 per cent of the popular vote to Harris’s 47.6 per cent. Trump has over 72.2 million votes, while Harris trails with approximately 67.4 million.
