Less than 10,000 people are undertaking Hajj this year, far less than the usual millions

Every year, millions of Muslims descend into Makkah in Saudi Arabia to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj.

But this year, the Covid-19 pandemic, that has changed the way people across the globe go about their lives, has impacted Hajj too.

This year, only a few thousand Muslims are performing this once in a lifetime ritual.
