In reference to your article Expert help on a malls trawl (October 10), everyone has an innate sense of style. You don't need a personal shopper. What you need to do is learn from mistakes.
Most of us have seen what type of garments men and women wear at fashion shows. The question is, will you wear them because a hotshot designer tells you to? Trust yourself ladies. There is always a “professional” out there preying on your insecurities and telling you what to buy and what to wear. Leaf through a few magazines, make a few mistakes and learn. It’s much more fun and a lot cheaper.

Do we need to eat food at movie theatres?
I refer to your editorial Reel distractions (October 10). I have been to cinemas where food orders are delivered to the seat. Not in courses though and that limits the disruption. The menu consists mostly of combo meals that can be delivered in one bag. However, I've seen people struggling with hot dogs and burgers as there are no laptables.

Why does everything have to be over the top? You’re there to watch a movie, enjoy a bucket of popcorn and a drink. The next thing on offer could be pedicures and foot massages.

We’ve had these sorts of theatres in California for the past few years and even when they show old movies the place is sold out. Very few children and teenagers attend, which makes it a much nicer experience. Bottom line: good food and no one under 21 makes for a nice, peaceful evening.

Mexico condemns Iguala violence
The Embassy of Mexico in the UAE would like to share with you the Mexican government’s strong condemnation of the despicable and unacceptable acts of violence that have happened in Iguala, in the state of Guerrero, as well as the actions taken to search for the missing people and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The federal government is coordinating the security institutions and cooperating with the judiciary of Guerrero to bring the people responsible for the crime to justice.
The federal government has sent army troops, police and members of the Gendarmerie to take control of Iguala municipality.
The general public prosecutor’s office has formed a special team to help investigate this case and the director of the criminal investigation agency, Zerón de Lucio, has travelled to Guerrero to lead the inquiries. The general public prosecutor, Jesús Murillo Karam, has met the families of the missing students and has offered them full support. At the time of writing, in addition to an initial 22 detainees, four more people have been arrested. Some 117 Iguala policemen are being investigated and undergoing thorough examinations. Their weapons have been confiscated for analysis.
Forensic staff and other experts, including some from Argentina, are participating in the inquiries, while army and navy troops are involved in intelligence gathering.

Kim can’t help North Koreans
It was interesting to follow the developments in North Korea (North Korea anniversary is a big test for absent Kim, October 10). The absence of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un for almost a month has fuelled speculation that he may be ill or he may have been dethroned. In either case it is good news. No one wants to see a leader like him who is incapable of doing any good to his country. After coming to power, he has only dragged North Korea further down through his reign of terror.
I hope North Koreans will get a better leader who will improve their condition and enable them to prosper by opening the country to the rest of the world.

Nobel prize brings joy for everyone
The news that Kailash Satyarthi of India and Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan have jointly won the Nobel prize has brought immense joy to the peace-loving people across the world (Subcontinent celebrates winners, October 12).
Their recognition is significant especially because it comes at a time when millions of children are suffering due to the conflicts in the Middle East. I hope these recognitions will inspire other individuals and organisations to fight for children’s rights.
