For many people who live in the capital, safety is something that we take for granted. We are used to living in a place where petty crime is basically non-existent. But this is not how the rest of the world lives. That is why Abu Dhabi has been ranked the safest city in the world according to online crime index Numbeo.com. The designation is backed up by statistics from the Abu Dhabi Police, who have found that crime levels have been steadily decreasing since 2011.
Just because you might be able to leave your wallet unattended in a coffee shop doesn’t meant that your money is safe. Online phishing campaigns, many of which originate outside the UAE, continue to pose a risk. Road safety is another issue that requires vigilance for residents and visitors. But when it comes to crime, you can’t find a safer place to be than Abu Dhabi (Dubai also ranked as one of the safest in the world). This achievement is thanks to the great work of the authorities and the residents alike. We should all be proud to live in such a safe place.
