Many Abu Dhabi roads have obscured views

With regard to your story, Concerns over obstructed views near Abu Dhabi junction (April 2), this is not the only place where this hazard exists.

There are several roads that have pavements blocked by metal construction barriers.

This causes two serious problems. One is that pedestrians have to walk on the road because the pavement is blocked by these barriers and the other is that cars can’t see around them when pulling out on to the road.

There are a few junctions in Abu Dhabi that are obstructed visually.

There’s one particular junction on Reem Island where bushes obscure views of a pedestrian crossing. Pedestrians can’t see the cars, and vice versa.

I would like to know where we are supposed to report these kinds of hazards.

This is also the case opposite Al Wahda mall, from the access road connecting to the old Passport Road. I hope the authorities will check the signage.

Is this weather anything new?

Your story, More rain and strong winds for the UAE through the weekend (April 1), says unstable weather is normal for this time of year but this time last year, it was constantly above 30 degrees and sunny.

Youth drinking was blatant

With regard to the news story, Youth alcohol parties are rife in UAE, say residents (April 3), I saw the same thing at the recent Nicki Minaj concert.

Some kids were so drunk their friends had to carry them. I also saw one of the older members of one group buying drinks for younger friends.

They didn’t even care to hide it – he literally handed the drinks over. None of the security staff seemed to care.

Hart’s comedy is the key factor

Your review of Kevin Hart's performance in Abu Dhabi (Kevin Hart's energetic show let down by cheap shots, April 3) noted the differences between the sets and production values here compared to earlier performances overseas.

I saw him this summer in Canada and I also saw him on Friday in Abu Dhabi.

The material and the set up were the exact same, right down to the jokes. Even though I had heard the jokes eight months ago, I still laughed out loud.

He put on an awesome show, so who cares what the stage looked like? It’s about the comedy, not the stage. He could have been standing on a wooden box for all I care.

Trump must be stopped now

After reading your story, Donald Trump's most unlikely supporters: 'He is rude ... but maybe that's the president we need' (March 31), I started to imagine the process of creating a dream football team.

One could choose steady and qualified players who aren’t going to set the world alight, but will at least maintain your league place.

Or one could choose a player who not only bites members of his own team, but breaks the ankles of the supporters.

Neither option is great, I agree. But one can be built on, while the other will only destroy – and in fact is already destroying even though he’s not even in the team yet!
