I write to you in reference to Daniel Sanderson's article UK money launderer who tried to fly £1.5m into Dubai will never see cash again (April 27). I am glad he got caught. I suggest we distribute this money among the sailors that were, until recently, stranded off the UAE coast for nearly two years. They have been through a lot of hardships and deserve compensation.

Violence is never the answer, in Sri Lanka and beyond
In reference to Ivan Watson's article Diary: Grief, bewilderment and growing outrage in Sri Lanka a week after suicide bombings (April 27): the continued trauma of grief-stricken Sri Lankans is understandable. The people of Sri Lanka are still in shock because of these terrible attacks and are still coming to terms with the terrifying number of innocent civilians that have been killed or injured. The shock is compounded by the fact that the terrorists were local youngsters, some from rich and educated families.
Muslims constitute about 9.7 per cent of the population of Sri Lanka, a very small community that has always coexisted peacefully alongside Hindus, Christians and Buddhists. Generally, the Sri Lankans are a peaceful people; at least, that is what I gathered from my visits to this beautiful island. This makes the scale and the horror of these attacks all the more baffling. After the initial shock wears off, authorities must find out what pushed these educated youngsters from respectable families to take this wretched path of violence and mayhem.

Houses of worship should remain a safe haven for all
I write to you in reference to your article California synagogue shooting: one dead, three injured as gunman opens fire on Sabbath worshippers (April 28). I am saddened by the horrifying trend of terrorists murdering believers in their houses of worship. It seems we are inevitably heading towards a moment in history when mosques, churches, synagogues and temples will need permanent armed security for protection, just like airports.

Greta Thunberg is fighting against the whole system
I write to you in reference to Robert Matthews' article Why the world needs to take notice of Greta Thunberg's climate change warning (April 27). I commend Greta Thunberg's stance on climate change and her actions to bring more attention to it. But unfortunately, I believe that as long as big corporations are allowed to influence policy makers through lobbying efforts, nothing is going to change.
Nonetheless, Greta Thunberg is fighting for the right cause.
