Condolences for Sridevi, a talented Indian actress gone too soon

I refer to your article Bollywood legend Sridevi dies at 54 (February 25): Sridevi was immensely talented, beautiful and a fine actress. She mesmerised movie watchers with her scintillating theatrics and dances in movies like Mr. India, Chaalbaaz, Chandni and English-Vinglish. She left the world far too soon. When she died, she still had ample talent in her and a lot to contribute to cinema. She will be missed as an artist, as a devoted mother by her young daughters Jahnvi and Khushi and as a caring wife by her dedicated husband Boney Kapoor. I offer my condolences to her family, friends and fans.

Walking is pivotal today for good health and fitness

In reference to your online article Weekly walk in Abu Dhabi encourages inclusiveness ahead of Special Olympics (February 23), the piece was good to read. Today walking is an essential part of good health and fitness for all people.

The capital of the UAE’s initiative of organising walks for everyone to participate in to prepare for the 2019 Special Olympics is excellent, particularly the emphasis on special needs people.

This programme was started on January 26 and will continue every Friday, driven by people from across Abu Dhabi society.

We shouldn’t rely on outside powers for regional peace

In reference to your comprehensive coverage about conflicts in the region, I believe peace, not war, should be the direction of all the countries in the Middle East.

History teaches us that there will be no winners. So the sooner a comprehensive solution is found without interference from outside powers, the better for all nations in the region.

Springtime woes under the sweltering Abu Dhabi sun

I refer to your article Spring in the UAE: A time filled with regret and guilt (February 24): there is no such thing as spring in the UAE. Yesterday I spent just four hours outside and almost got sunburn.

Education is key when it comes to learning disabilities

I write in reference to your article Emirati athlete sprints to change perception of people with learning disabilities (February 25); surely the point should be to educate people about these disabilities and take steps to ensure teachers are qualified to attend to the individual needs of such students.
